What to expect when you go see an infertility doctor?

i am going to go see an infertility doctor next month and was wondering what to expect when I go there. The reason I have the appt is that I am always late by a month or sometimes 2 so it is very difficult to determine when I ovalute and being that I am so late I have very few chances to get pregnant in a year. Has anyone been to one of these appts and can let me know what to expect? They said it is a 40 minute appt.

What caused the infertility problem in the book Handmaid's Tale?

OK, so I want to know why everyone is infertile in the book Handmaid’s tale, and what page I could find a good quote from the book that deals with infertility.

Thank You!

Are there any infertility specialists or infertility doctors in Casablanca, Morocco?

If so, what hospitals are there that have infertility doctors or infertility specalists in Casablanca? If not where would a woman who is infertile go to seek treatment?

How do you get your OB-GYN to refer you to an infertility specialist?

I know I have a problem with my cervical mucus. I know I don’t produce the egg white cervical mucus that I need to get pregnant. The only problem is, I’ve been through 1 LEEP procedure, 3 cryotherapy procedures and now I have to go in for an acid treatment to treat cervical dysplasia. She won’t refer me to an infertility specialist until this clears up, but it doesn’t look like its going to anytime soon. I’m only 24 and my hope for having a baby is rapidly decreasing. Help!

Why do so many questions start off with the parents story of infertility?

I notice often, when people looking into adoption or who have adopted, or adoptees speaking of their adoptive parents or references to people who have adopted, the story is often told of their struggle to have children on their own.

Why is this? Why is it about their infertility?

That tells me 1) they wouldn’t have chosen adoption if they had children on their own
2) they didn’t look into adoption for the benefit of the child
3) they’re not looking at it from the adoptees point of view or else they wouldn’t be introducing themselves as people who have struggled with infertility.

Does anybody else see the irony in this? Does it bother anyone else? Do you think adoption will ever be about the child?

*Disclaimer*
( i am not meaning "all" adoptions are like this, some aren’t, for the ones that are, that is what I’d like to discuss. I realize that there are some people who looked into foster care adoption to generally help a child, I realize not all ap’s are infertile. This question is directed to those using infertility as a crutch to justify adoption )

When should you start testing for infertility?

What is the biological reasoning behind infertility?

To potentially stop "bad" genes from continue?
To control the population?

What?

It happens everywhere in nature, and I was just wondering why, especially in humans, do we have infertility?
I know there are many WAYS to be infertile (LOVE King of the Hill!), but WHY are people (and animals) infertible? What biologically is the reason?

What should I expect at an infertility evalution?

I am going to the doctor Thursday to discuss my infertility problem. I am a little nervous because I’m not sure what to expect. This is an appointment just for me (my husband will be going to a male doctor). So, if anyone could tell me some of the details od what happens, I would greatly appreciate it!

What are early signs of infertility? Are extremely irregular periods anything to worry about?

I was on birth control for 5 years and stopped 6 months ago. My husband and I are ready for a baby. I tried one of those online ovulation calendars, but each month, my cycle gets longer and the length of my periods are usually about 10 to 14 days. My parents both had infertility problems and conceived me through in vitro fertilization, so I am worried that it could happen to me. I am only 24, and most of my friends my age have 3 or 4 kids. It seems that if other people my age can have babies so easily, I should be able to as well. I will not have health insurance for a couple more months, so seeing a doctor isn’t an option at this point.

How much did your infertility treatment cost?

My insurance covers 25000 after my deductible is satisfied (which is about 7,000 on the year)…In any case, I just want to know how far that will get me in infertility treatment. Thanks!
